Maidstone - Great people, great place, great opportunity

Maidstone Museums are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious person to work with collections across Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery, Tyrwhitt Drake Museum of Carriages and the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regimental Museum in order to support the overall service purpose of enabling and broadening access to engage communities, inspire learning, and to disseminate knowledge.

Situated in the heart of Kent's County Town and housed in a range of historic buildings, the museums' collections contain over 600,000 artefacts and specimens covering Natural History, Human History and Fine and Applied Art.

The successful candidate will assist in collections care and documentation, collections reviews and audits, make collections more accessible, work on new ways to use the collection to create new income streams in partnerships, while seeking external funding and sponsorship for collection related projects.

They will be an effective communicator and should be able to communicate clearly and concisely, well-organised, professional and flexible, with the ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
