Wildlife Gardener / Ecologist

Deadline: Monday, July 31, 2017 - 09:00
Employer: The Natural History Museum, London
Contract Duration: Fixed Term 6 Months
Contract Type: Full Time
Salary: £27,742

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web, and as a centre of excellence in scientific research.

We are looking to recruit a Wildlife Gardener/Ecologist to share the day to day management and recording of the Wildlife Garden. The area hosts events and educational sessions and you will work together with the existing team to present accurate examples of British lowlands habitats including woodland, chalk grassland, meadow and heathland ponds.

Working to a management plan, you will be expected to carry out routine work using countryside management and gardening skills. The role will include plant and animal species recording and monitoring and managing a database of these records.

You will have a degree (or equivalent) in ecology, horticulture or a related subject or equivalent in experience and sound knowledge of British native flora and lowland plant communities.

Similar experience within countryside or wildlife garden management, ideally within a visitor attraction, is also essential.
