Assistant Curator - Natural Science/Geology
Leeds Museums and Galleries has been awarded a grant from the John Ellerman Foundation Museums and Galleries Fund for Geoblitz – a project to invigorate our Designated Geology collections.
Geoblitz is a three-year project which aims:
- To improve the care, management and digitisation of the geology collection
- To develop an early-career curator, providing the training and experience in managing a significant regional collection
- To build a network from the academic and expert geological community to increase and share knowledge of these important collections
- To increase the use and impact of our geological collections in our public programmes and to increase engagement with geology in our audiences
- To share best practice for the care and use of geological collections with partner museums
- We are looking for an early-career geologist who is passionate about their subject, has an understanding of the role of museum collections and who is eager to share their passion with a wide audience.
Our ideal candidate will have some experience of working with museum geology collections, as enthusiastic about collections management as they are about geology, and is an excellent communicator.
The position is fixed term for 3 years from commencement of the project, full time 37 hours per week.
