We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and organised person to become part of the team at UCL Museums & Collections. This post will be based in the Grant Museum of Zoology, one of the foremost zoology museums in the UK, with a growing reputation for innovative and experimental work. The Visitor Services Assistant will be working on many aspects of audience engagement in the Grant Museum. They will be responsible for the Museum’s front of house activity- welcoming visitors and providing information to help them get the most from their visit. They will also deliver tours, learning workshops and activity sessions to the Museum’s target audiences, and administrate the Friends of the Grant Museum programme.

UCL Museums & Collections are used extensively to support and enrich teaching and research, and are used continuously by undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff across UCL and the wider academic community. UCL museums also have a wide remit in public engagement, delivering innovative programmes for adults, families and schools as well as the Higher Education community, through events, exhibitions and an active online presence.

Hours of Work: Part-time at 74% FTE (27.01 hours per week): Two full weekdays plus three additional afternoons (12.50-5pm) per week. Must include Saturday afternoons, but will not include Sundays. This post has open ended funding at 66% FTE but funding has been identified for extra hours (74% FTE) until July 2015. After that, if further funding is not found, the post will revert back to 66% FTE.

Key Requirements
Applicants should have a proven interest in, and broad knowledge of natural history. They will have experience of giving information to the public and working in a museum learning environment.
