Cumberland House Natural History Museum Development Officer
The post holder will have knowledge of and enthusiasm for the natural world and an ability to share it with others. This post will bring energy and dynamism to the museum. Your role will be to enhance the offer at the museum for families and other audiences through events, hands-on activities and displays delivered through the use of volunteers. We see the museum as a hub for natural history / wildlife related activity in the city and expect the post to work in partnership with other organisations to achieve this including the Friends of Cumberland House.
The postholder will operate the museum on a day to day basis as ‘Duty Manager’, line-manage front-of-house staff who work at the museum and be responsible for customer care, health and safety, security, cash handling, cleaning etc. This aspect of the job can be demanding especially in the summer months (‘butterfly season’) and school holidays. The post is responsible for the day to day care of Butterfly House, including the plants and insects.
Although working to the Museums and Visitor Services Manager, the postholder will have a close working relationship with the Visitor Services Manager and Learning Officer.
The post is based at Cumberland House.
