Documentation Officer
The purpose of the job is to contribute to the development and maintenance of collections management programmes, including documentation, inventory, storage and loans. The post will involve maintaining the collections management database and developing cataloguing standards. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Requirements
The post holder needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding or experience of:
Current museums professional practice
Extensive knowledge of documentation procedures and current best practice
The Museums System (TMS) or equivalent computer cataloguing systems
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
Educated to degree level
Post graduate qualification in Museum or Archives Studies or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
Maintain and develop the computerised collections database (known as TMS) and other accession records
Operational delivery of collection management activity for all Museums and Galleries collections
Respond to enquiries from staff and members of the public, including requests for digital images of the collections
