Science Engagement Officer
Fixed Term until July 2017
This exciting new post has been devised to collaborate with Museum colleagues and others from across the University of Reading to devise, deliver and evaluate science engagement and interpretation within the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL). It forms a key part of the Wellcome Trust funded project 'Our Country Lives: Nutrition, Health and Rural England.'
Science-based engagement represents a new departure for the Museum and a significant strand of the current redevelopment of its displays and programming. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing complementary resources connected to new displays and science-related archives and artefacts (including web-based films, social media, artistic interventions, and further events).
Required Skills:
Postgraduate qualification in science communication or museum studies, or equivalent professional experience
Experience of delivering public engagement or similar communication activity
Knowledge of a relevant subject area, such as biological science, food science, or farming
Experience of working with a wide range of audiences or users.
