Based at Hexham, Northumberland initially, then based at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre (near Bardon Mill) from Summer 2017
The Sill is a bold, ambitious project that will transform how people of all ages understand and explore the landscapes, history, culture and heritage of Northumberland and the wider North East. A major purpose of The Sill is to enable the landscapes of Northumberland National Park and surrounding Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to be opened up to even more people, including children, families, older people, disabled people and those who are less confident at exploring natural places.
The Sill activity programme is for learners of all ages, abilities and interests in order to create a perfect learning laboratory for children and adults alike. These unique learning opportunities will increase people’s understanding and enjoyment of the landscape, using the natural and cultural landscapes and heritage of Northumberland National Park as a starting point.
We are seeking an experienced and creative person to play a key role in delivering our ambitious and innovative activity programme.
You will need:
Experience in an education/interpretation based discipline
Degree or equivalent experience in natural science/archaeology/rural issues/environmental sciences or other related subject
Familiarity with the National Curriculum and how it’s applied in a variety of settings
Awareness of relevant national agendas and initiatives in the field
