Oxford University Museum of Natural History
We are seeking a highly organised team player with excellent documentation skills to oversee the documentation of the collections at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History in accordance with internal, national and international standards, including SPECTRUM and International Standard for Archival Description (ISAD).
The successful candidate will have first-rate IT skills with experience in programming scripts in MS Excel and Access. Comprehensive knowledge of Collections Management Systems, specifically KE Emu, is essential. A degree in life or earth sciences and experience with Crystal Reports is highly desirable.
Specific Duties
Complete an audit of current collections documentation
Ensure all documentation is to established procedures, drafting procedural guidelines and manuals, and providing training to staff where necessary.
Assess current Documentation Backlog Policy, and redraft if necessary
Reconcile documentation with collections and create object and collection history files
Provide support in preparing collections data for migration to integrated CMS (KE Emu)
Provide support, help and training to other KE EMu users in the Museum.
Management, administration and development of KE Emu, with support of IT staff
Manage the development of web interface and publication of collections data to the web.
Provide interpretation and advice on legal and regulatory issues applicable to the sector and provide policy advice on these matters
Participate in public engagement activities in the Museum, as appropriate for collections staff
Manage documentation of external loans for exhibitions
Management of volunteers and interns as appropriate
