This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of Kew’s Fungarium Collections Management team. You will be assisting in the curation of our unique and extensive Fungarium collection, which holds an estimated 1.25 million dried fungal specimens. It is one of the world’s oldest, largest, and most comprehensive mycological reference collections, containing many specimens of historical and scientific importance.

You will have 5 GCSE’s or NVQ Level 2 equivalent. You will have highly accurate data basing and word processing skills and the ability to handle delicate specimens with care, as you will be selecting specimens to send out on loan to researchers. This role also requires excellent communication skills, as at times, you will be assisting the team with leading tours of the Fungarium for a diverse range of visitors, and participating in other public engagement activities. Ideally you will have a keen interest in fungi and previous experience of working with Collections.

Please note that this role involves regular manual handling activities, including carrying and lifting moderately heavy boxes of specimens and the use of short mobile safety ladders.
