Deadline:

Employer:
Horniman Museum and Gardens
Contract Type:
Full Time
Contract Duration:
Permanent
Salary:
£23,985 p/a

The Horniman Museum and Gardens in south east London has been open since Victorian times, when the tea trader and philanthropist, Frederick John Horniman first opened his house and extraordinary collection of objects to the local community. Since then, our collection has grown significantly and includes internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as an acclaimed aquarium and natural history gallery - all surrounded by 16 acres of beautiful Gardens offering breath taking views across London.

Are you passionate about museum collections and making them accessible to a wide audience? If so you could play a key role in the recording and sharing of the Horniman's collections.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Collections Information Assistant to help us improve the records relating to our museum objects, our library and archive and what the museum does.

Your main responsibility will be to create and improve records in the Horniman's databases. You will have an enthusiasm for good data, an understanding of what it can do, and experience of creating and managing it.

Experience of working in a museum is not essential, but an interest in museums and their collections is. The Horniman's next big project will focus on the Natural History collection, so some scientific qualifications or experience would be a great help and a passion for natural science would be ideal.

The closing date for completed applications is 10am on Friday 21 January 2022.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 8 February 2022.

The Horniman is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
