Digitisation Officer Microscope Slides
This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large Digital Collections team dedicated to increasing access to the collections at Kew to facilitate and accelerate novel research.
The microscope slide collection at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is the largest of its kind worldwide, incorporating around 150,000 slides and representing a unique resource for trait analysis and plant authentication.
We are looking to appoint a digitisation officer to continue the development and testing of new digitisation workflows for microscope slides. Whilst the digital collections team is large the individual needs to be comfortable working autonomously as they will be the only digitisation officer currently focussed on working with microscope slides.
Essential skills and experience required for this role include knowledge of preparation of microscope slides, experience of data entry and imaging, good collection handling skills, strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.
