To support the Head of Programmes in developing the public education and outreach potential, to support with curation and expansion of its natural science/space & science and technology exhibits, and to help inspire public understanding of, and involvement in, natural science through exhibits and programming.

Duties:

- To drive content development and delivery of all Sciences programming conducted by the museum's education department, seek collaboration with the Education and Technical Events Production Department whenever possible (programs may include lecture series, field trips, special events, conferences, workshops); deliver public programs and invited lectures; provide natural science content and oversee any sciences content provided by other staff for website.
- Ensure museum content is reviewed and updated
- Develop Museum Manuals to include policies & procedures
- Participate in departmental meetings and proactively contribute
- To plan and execute Sciences exhibitions with the Exhibits Team.
- Monitor and maintain budgets for programmes
- To participate in defining and articulating exhibit/program objectives and expected outcomes based on identifiable audience needs/interests and target audience segments. This includes providing expertise in developing, planning and implementing school and public programs.
- To organise the presentation of lectures and excursions to diverse audiences.
- To collaborate with the museum education department to plan and lead lectures, trips, tours and interpretive programs with an emphasis on local and regional natural history to diverse audiences.
- To collaborate in the development and presentation of exhibitions and adjunct programming, and may supervise various interns as appropriate.
- To represent the Museum at professional meetings, forums and/or workshops as required.
- To provide curatorial content, research and planning for exhibit design, construction and renovation, including participating in the Museum's changing exhibition program and permanent exhibits.
- To contribute curatorial content to exhibit-related programming.
- To develop and maintain partnerships with organisations and institutions throughout the region and internationally.
- To assist with maintenance, enhancement, and operations of Natural History Museum, Science & Technology & Space Museum exhibits and exhibit environments as directed by supervisor.
- To conduct training of education staff, interns, teen and adult volunteers.
- To perform other tasks and duties as requested to meet business unit, department and cultural district requirements.

Education & Experience

- A Master's Degree or related field required; or combination of education and work experience or A Bachelor's Degree in Arts, supplemented with 2 - 4 years curatorial experience
- Solid knowledge anchored in traditional and academic study in his/her field of work, but also extremely creative and excited about the potential of innovative and futuristic ways to explore our present and our past achievements in the arts and sciences
- A first class communicator with the gravitas and credibility to develop relationships with internal stakeholders
- Experience in effective and dynamic public speaking, educational programs and lectures, and creating and teaching standards-based curriculum. An appreciation of diversity, inclusion and community profiles, experience of responding to diverse and changing client and community needs
- Competent knowledge of the ideas discussed in all our museums and a great understanding of cross-disciplinary and cross-pollination of ideas in the arts, sciences and between different cultures
- To demonstrate an ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a style appropriate to a diverse audience's technical understanding and capabilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, the importance of natural history and specimens
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
- A demonstrated passion for communicating the process and product of natural science to the public
- Proven ability to work as part of a team, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, volunteers and general public
- Experience of working in the Middle East
- Solid written and spoken English
- Spoken Arabic
- At least two (2) years post-graduate experience in museum or similar environment. A strong and engaging people manager who actively leads and drives the team from the front and inspires excellence
