As part of a redevelopment project, the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) seeks to appoint a Collections Officer to support the preparation and move of the RCS museum collections. The museum collections comprise of organic specimens, surgical instruments, artworks, models and microscope slides. They include historically significant ACE Designated collections and modern Human Tissue Authority (HTA) licenced material.

The Collections Officer will work across multiple sites. They will be responsible for various aspects of collections management and collections care. This includes object cataloguing, packing and movement of collections and location and movement control, using ADLIB Collections Management System. The post-holder will hold a degree in a relevant subject and have demonstrable experience of working with museum collections.  They will have a good understanding of museums documentation and experience of using collections databases.  Importantly they will have the sensitivity and confidence needed to work with specimens of human tissue and ensure that Human Tissue Authority standards are adhered to.
