The main purpose of the role is to provide authoritative expertise on species native to Wales and those that are currently, or may in the future, become invasive; and to develop the collection to ensure it is capable of representing biodiversity and monitoring environmental changes in this area. This will be delivered via the collection development plan for Botany.

Engage in networks focused on documenting and researching issues surrounding invasive species to develop projects and maximise grant opportunities. Develop collaborative projects, both within Natural Sciences, AC and externally.

Deliver high quality botanical research projects relating to invasive species and their impacts on the native flora which will align to the goals of the Amgueddfa Cymru Research Strategy.

The role will include a significant component of collection care and management responsibilities for the botany collection in collaboration with the Curator Botany (Collection Care and Access).

The post holder will also participate in the delivery of public programmes (events, exhibitions and digital products) which promote understanding of Amgueddfa Cymru’s botany collection. This will include investigating new ways to promote the collections and identify opportunities to share the collections with other museums throughout Wales.
